To date, I have not blogged about a movie or my opinion of it; however, Walking with the Enemy<\/em><\/strong> is intensely powerful and left an emotional impact on my mind as well as in my heart.\u00a0 I can’t stop thinking about it.\u00a0 As a result, I feel compelled to share this thought provoking film with my readers.\u00a0 It is based on a true story<\/a> \u2013 set in Hungary during World War II \u2013 and spotlights real life heroes.<\/p>\n

First of all, I must emphasis that I had never heard of this 2014 movie. \u00a0\u00a0I picked the DVD off of the shelves at my local library in Mooresville.\u00a0 \u00a0It was a random choice.\u00a0 Except for Ben Kingsley, I did not know any of the actors (Jonas Armstrong, Simon Kunz, Hannah Tointon, Simon Dutton and Burn Gorman,) but the cover looked intriguing.\u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

I love history and consider myself fairly knowledgeable regarding World War II, Hitler\u2019s Germany, Fascism and the Holocaust; however, I did learn a few things from this movie.\u00a0 In addition, I truly believe that we should never<\/em><\/strong> forget the horrors of the Holocaust.\u00a0 I thank Hollywood, writer Kenny Golde and director Mark Schmidt for telling this story and keeping the memory alive.\u00a0 \u00a0Although this is a graphic and painful account of a horrific time in history, Walking with the Enemy <\/strong><\/em><\/a>is \u2013 for some reason — rated PG-13.\u00a0 I don\u2019t recommend young teens watching this movie without an adult; however, I do think every high school student should see this movie . . .\u00a0 learn from past evils and recognize what courage and true heroism are . . . and \u2013 above all \u2013 remember.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the end of the movie, one of the characters says, \u201cLooking into the faces of those who survived, I see echoes of the ones we have lost\u2026 family, friends, and many others . . . we carry them with us so they will always live on.\u201d<\/p>\n

This picture appeared at the end of the movie.\u00a0 The image brought tears to my eyes and the memory of a quote by Edmund Burke I learned when I was in school . . . “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”<\/p>\n
