Have you seen the recently released movie POMS starring Diane Keaton?<\/strong><\/p>\n

First, I must admit . . . I would never have picked this movie on my own. \u00a0Movie tickets are expensive; I normally do not pick a comedy that is just as good on my television set as it is in the theater.\u00a0 However, my girlfriends chose to see this movie and invited me to join them.\u00a0 As a result, I elected to go more to spend time with them than to see the movie.<\/p>\n

I knew nothing about the story line in POMS; consequently, I had a preconceived idea that it was a comedy focusing on aging cheerleaders.\u00a0 Having been a cheerleader in both high school and college, I thought \u2013 why not \u2013 maybe it will spark a memory or two and blend it with some laughter.\u00a0 To my surprise and delight, I misjudged POMS.\u00a0 There is a great deal more to this movie than meets the eye \u2013 or the critics\u2019 reviews.\u00a0 It is not solely about cheerleaders or . . . aging cheerleaders.\u00a0 I do not want to give away too much of the simple — yet heartfelt \u2013 plot, but \u2013 rest assured \u2013 there are many life\u2019s lessons during this ninety-one minute film.\u00a0 Yes . . . I laughed . . . all of us did . . . but several times emotions ran raw through my body and tears filled my eyes.\u00a0 It\u2019s a story of loneliness, friendship and finding purpose in one\u2019s life<\/strong> \u2013 no matter how old \u2013 or young \u2013 a person is.<\/strong>\u00a0 On multiple occasions, it tugs dramatically at the viewer\u2019s heart.<\/p>\n

For those of you who are traveling through your \u201cgolden years,\u201d you will draw more sensitive, poignant feelings about the quality of life and the need to have a reason to wake up in the morning. \u00a0Jacki Weaver, Pam Grier, Rhea Perlman, Phyllis Somerville, and Carol Sutton are a few of the female actresses who surround Keaton<\/a> and evoke laughter.\u00a0 For those viewers who are younger and cannot yet fathom life with silver hair, sagging skin and wrinkles<\/strong> \u2013 if you look closely \u2013 you might actually take home a valuable life lesson after viewing teen beauty Alisha Boe<\/a> and Charlie Tahan<\/a>\u2019s well-acted auxiliary roles.<\/p>\n

The professional critics have labeled POMS a \u201closer\u201d<\/em> . . . but I disagree.<\/strong>\u00a0 If you are looking for an action-packed, computer generated, mindless blockbuster, then POMS is not for you.\u00a0 However, if you are looking for a movie with a touching story line that will make an imprint on your heart<\/strong> . . . gather some friends and go to this movie.\u00a0 Celebrate FRIENDSHIP!\u00a0<\/strong> You will be entertained and rewarded for your time and your ticket price.<\/p>\n
