Are you ready for spring?

I am sure most of you agree . . . this has been a long, cold winter. Not only are the temperatures frigid, there has been an unusual amount of snow. One pretty snowstorm a year is about as much as I can enjoy. Thankfully, I am not the one who has to shovel it, and the Carolina sun usually melts the snow by the time I need to drive out of the neighborhood. Unfortunately, the freezing temperature is a different story. It has been extremely cold – so cold, neither my dog nor I want to take our daily three-mile walk – poor guy — he has cabin fever too! In addition, the winds are fierce and biting. As a result – this winter — I have spent a lot of time indoors.
Does this sound familiar to you?
Today is Ground Hog Day . . . and guess what . . . Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and predicts six more weeks of winter. Oh no! I was hoping for daffodils and crocuses in a week or two . . . maybe a t-shirt and capris by the end of February and a couple of warm days on the boat by the beginning of March. However – if we believe Punxsutawney Phil, it looks like that is not going to happen.
I don’t know about you, but I’m running out of creative things to do indoors. I’ve cleaned my closets. I’m bored of my exercise DVDs. I’ve seen a ton of movies, including Dunkirk, The Darkness Hour and A Dog’s Purpose. I’ve even watched Gone with the Wind, Gettysburg, The Notebook, and Devil’s Advocate for the umpteenth time. I’ve read a few books and am about to start a new one: The Big Job by Libby Kirsch. However, I’m yearning for green grass, warm breezes and spring flowers.
Anyone else feel like this?
As we all wait patiently for spring to arrive, can I ask you to list a few of your favorite movies and/or books? I’m tired of twenty-four hour news, and I am open to your suggestions.
Thanks in advance – and let’s all “hang in there” – I know spring is just around the corner.

Yay! I got the book too and plan to start it today!!! Go Stella!! ❤️
Please keep me posted on how you like Libby Kirsch’s book — “The Big Job”. Between tomorrow’s predicted snowstorm and the neighborhood Super Bowl party, I probably won’t get to start it until Monday or Tuesday.
All books by Jodi Picoult. All books but kristin Hannah (especially The Nightingale).
Hidden Figures is a movie worth watching!
I also recently saw the Accountant and we loved it.
I love How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days!
I heard THE BIG SICK is a good one.
Ali . . . love your suggestions . . . Hidden Figures was AMAZING (saw it in the theater. Also saw “The Shack”) My husband and I watched The Accountant on TV a few weeks ago — disturbingly good. Haven’t seen “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” in a LONG time — might try that one again. Haven’t heard about “The Big Sick” — will check it out. Love your book suggestions. I happen to have a copy of “The Nightingale” — it is on my “to-read” shelf. Heard it is amazing. Thanks for taking the time to make suggestions. This rainy day is screaming for a crackling fire and a good book — before the Super Bowl starts 🙂
Jodi Picoult…”Small, Great Things”…for a book….?
“The Greatest Showman” fora movie if you like musicals ?
And, yes I am ready for Spring and longer daylight ????
Seems like Jodi Picoult’s books are getting high praise. Will put Small, Great Things” on my list. I might have trouble getting my husband to a musical — but maybe — it’s a “girls’ day out” excursion.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Thank you for your fabulous suggestions. I have since read “Small, Great Things” by Jodi Picoult. Highly recommend. I couldn’t put this one down. It is well written and yet — emotionally disturbing on many levels. I have also read “The Great Alone” by Kristin Hannah. Thank you for the excellent recommendations. .
