I had the honor and privilege of being the guest author in Ali Faustino ‘s eighth grade English class at The Brawley School in Mooresville, North Carolina.
Although I have done many television and radio interviews during my literary journey, this was my first zoom interview with teenagers. I was wonderfully surprised by their insightful questions. Not only did they inquire about how to write in general and how to tackle the arduous task of writing a novel, they also asked a few personal questions that brought back bittersweet memories of my childhood struggles with reading and writing. Their curiosity gave me the opportunity to share how I overcame my educational obstacles by pouring my thoughts into my journal and using a typewriter instead of a pen to bypass my dyslexia.

Speaking with these creative teenagers was a rewarding experience. My hope is that I inspired their wonderful young minds to try writing — not only as an outlet for their emotions and an exercise to enhance their ability but also as a potential path for their future. Dream big… WORK FOR IT … make your dreams come true.

Great interview!!
Thanks! This was my first ZOOM interview with teenagers. I was highly impressed with them, their enthusiasm and their questions. I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did
WOW! Great questions from the teenagers — and your answers were powerful. You should do this more often.
Wonderful idea. I am always open to interviews. The good news is . . . I’m getting better on ZOOM. Technology has been a bit of an obstacle for me — but I’m learning.
